Yay! Bueno, qué día ese fue…
And now, with kids shows, we’re afraid to touch on subjects like death, divorce, and homosexuality, lest the parents phone up and throw a bitchfit. Television was educational not in that it taught us how to count by twos or what the word indigenous meant, but in the way it taught us life lessons in a way we were able to see, understand, reference and relate to. Television shows like this were guidebooks for parents, good tools to use when having a talk with kids about the death of a family member, friend, or even a pet. Saying things like “remember how Chuckie found that picture of his Mommy, and his Dad showed him all the things she used to have, and the poem she wrote for him?” gets the kid in the right mindset- and now?
Now we’ve got shows based on “randomocity”, slapstick humor without purpose, and full thirty minute slots packed tight with mindless one-liners and lessons in how to catch jellyfish with a net if you live underwater as a yellow sponge.
I’m not saying we didn’t have our set of shows like that, with silly nothingness, but there were so many more shows with valuable lessons than there are today. That’s why shows like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, are receiving such volumes of attention: they are heading in the right direction, brushing subjects that other kid’s cartoons neglect for fear of backlash.
Oh, Chuckie.
volare! whoa-oh…
This post is about how my Friday last week went. What I liked in particular was before the Accenture job application exam in our school started. The proctor asked us to go to a website but our computers were still locked. While she asked someone for assistance, all of us were guessing what the password is. To cut the long story short, I figured it out LIKE A BOSS. Hahaha.
I know what you’re thinking: that song played in the Lizzie McGuire movie. Yes! Haha. It’s a song from the 50’s, I heard the original one first. #hipstervibes #charot
For some weird reason I heard “volar” in both of my Spanish classes. First one was Nicole singing it while we were doing our seatwork and the other was RJ telling in the other class that if she could have any talent, she would like to fly. She mentioned later that she would like to visit Antarctica and see the penguins (to which I suddenly butted in with “que no volarán” jajajaj).
I remember it was around this time of last year when I was excited to co-head CADs’ YEC production staff dance: Rocketeer (“fly…”) and “I Believe I Can Fly.” What a coincidence. Something about flying again. I really thought I wouldn’t be doing anything like it this time around being a senior and busier but last Friday, I was teaching choreo again but with Sproove, SPEED’s DT, this time.
It has been such a blessing being part of Sproove. Just to be able to make it to RiB finals alone has been increíble, then to place third is icing on the cake, but then to actually get gig requests afterwards is just… wow. Sadly, we were not able to cater to all of them as we have different schedules. But now, we’re cooking up something for Kythe week. The most amazing one we got is from GlaxoSmithKline. Instead of a talent fee, they’re offering vitamins and medicines for our kids in SPEED if we dance to their event! How cool is that? I’m hoping and praying that this one would push through.
I might be working with fewer numbers now and know better, but I’m still gonna need God’s grace, as always, to pull this whole thing off along with my more important priorities. Also, the need to believe has shifted not just on pulling off the dance, now it’s also on what I ought to do right after graduation. Faith-stretching and really scary. I still haven’t made up my mind yet. But God’s been faithful. Here’s to wishing me and my batch 2012 the very best. Go, seniors, go! Lipad!
P.S.: I wish my friend Nico the very best in heading the succeeding prod dance for CASCADE! Make us proud. Kayang-kaya mo ‘yan! Ika nga ni Megumi sa Gokusen, “FIGHT-O, OH!” >:D<

It’s gonna take a long while before Delpo wins another Grand Slam. Huhuhu.
Delpo 'tweener' shot →
Yeah, see not only Federer can pull that off!
Sayang, it wasn’t his winning shot. But still!
I saw the premiere of American Idol and was excited. As for the 2nd episode, I feel like I’m getting older because I don’t get to catch it as faithfully as I could before. I’m still waiting for my manok, and I really expect that I might not enjoy it as the previous season because I really rooted for the latest winner Scotty McCreery since his first audition. I’m also waiting for another Casey Abrams who gave me that “OOH! Wow!” electric soulful musical feeling whenever he sings. AI still started strong though it has new competing singing contests The Voice and X Factor, as it was them (in America, at least) who started with the singing then judging with brutal honesty afterwards format. It’s great that the new shows addressed what Idol lacks. (It’s ironic, though, that The Voice presents itself as being more serious and credible in judging with finding their format of finding the winner, but the revolving chairs at blind auditions and the battling of contestants by coaches are still so gimmicky.) Now that these shows exist, I wish people would stop dissing on what they hate about AI, one of which is the continuum of “white male with guitar” winners since David Cook. Let’s just all patronize our own preferred shows and be happy, or wait for me to migrate to the States and become the first Fil-Am Idol by season 13. :) Weh. Hahaha.
And none for Gretchen Weiners…
THAT’S JUST TOO FUNNY TO NOT REBLOG
OMFG HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
=))))
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
Channing hasn’t made a movie with Cady Heron! Oh wait, she’s on crack right now.
My little sister wrote me a postcard from Germany. Thank you very much. I haven’t deciphered the alemán though, will do it later. While I’m all for her having fun there and having a handsome German husband (in the future), I can’t wait for her to come home soon from her JTA there next week! I’m so excited. Ingat palagi, Elay. Miss you so much…
